Our Governing Board

Welcome to Whitehall Infant School’s Governing Board website page. Here you will find details on our current Governing Board and information on what the Board does and how they work.

The governing body has a number of responsibilities and works with the Headteacher and the staff of the school to make Whitehall Infant School the best it can be for our pupils, their families and the wider Whitehall community. Whilst the headteacher is responsible for the day-to-day running, management and educational performance of the school, the Governing Board help to set strategic direction, review educational progress and financial performance, and both support and challenge the School Leadership Team. Often Governors are considered a ‘critical friend’ as they work to ensure the school is run as effectively as possible and provide the best education for the long term benefit of our pupils.

The Governing Board carry out these activities by attending regular Governing Board meetings and Committees and visiting the school – often to monitor key areas of the School Improvement Plan or areas of statutory responsibility.

The Governing Board consists of 12 Governors including Coopted Governors, Parent Governors and Staff Governors.  Apart from the headteachers, they initially serve for 4 years, but may serve for longer. The Governing Body has two main committees through which it carries out its work: Curriculum & Standards and Resources & Finance.

We benefit from a diverse Governing Board who are all volunteers and undertaking training so that they can carry out their role effectively. They bring a wide range of skills and experience from their professional and personal lives.  Three of our Governors have been parents to children attending the school and many Governors live locally and are involved in the wider Hillingdon area. All share Whitehall Infant Schools dedication to provide a stimulating, exciting environment where everyone feels valued and safe and pupils can realise their full potential.

“We all share in the school’s vision and values and are proud to be part of the Whitehall family”.
